These images were uploaded in the GIF format, but this 256-color format is only accepted at Commons for animation purposes. The GIF format should never be used for photos. Many graphics also start off with more than 256 colors and should not have been saved in the GIF format. This only lowers their quality, and the original graphic in another format should be found and uploaded instead. For more info see Commons:File types.
