How to make a request

  1. First make sure you clicked the correct edit-link and you are actually requesting the right you want.
  2. Copy the following and append it to the text-area:

  3. Replace reason with a rationale based on the rollback guideline, renaming guideline or the patroller guideline.
  4. Press Publish changes.

Admins and anyone with global rollback don't need to request rollback. License reviewers don't have to request the patrol flag.

I have been a member of Wikimedia Commons since November 28, 2018, but I became truly active only in the summer of 2021, taking my own photographs and uploading images from free sites. I also replaced low-resolution files with higher resolution ones until the end of October, which corresponds to the interest of the community. Hi, I've been working on Commons for years with over 40,000 edits. Recently I found that I need the right to overwrite files uploaded by other users. While I am mainly working on old photographs and sometimes paintings, I need to overwrite many images of low quality (usually from bad sources) with high-quality images from better sources. Why did you make this overwrite with a totally different file at File:Vua Tự Đức.jpg. And even if you are the original uploader do not make major changes like you did on File:Painter Lê Thị Lựu and her husband Ngô Thế Tân in Bắc Ninh, 1935.jpg one year after the original upload. As for File:Vua Tự Đức.jpg, why do you think its totally different? The previous file was imported by other users from a Flickr page. The Flickr user just downloaded the same file as I uploaded later, cropped it, and made some adjustment. As for File:Painter Lê Thị Lựu and her husband Ngô Thế Tân in Bắc Ninh, 1935.jpg, firstly, I consider it as a minor change because the two versions are the same photograph while the previous one is cropped (but the subject of the image was not changed). Thus when I found the higher resolution image, I replaced the former with it. I read the guideline and did not found that there is a time limit for minor improvements (as for me it's neither substantial changes or completely unrelated files). Due to the restrictions imposed on updating image files in Commons (and I have been updating quite often to improve the quality of images in Wikipedia), please give me the AutoPatrol status for Commons to continue improving. (I have this status in the local Wiki since 2020. Over the past 10 years, I have uploaded/updated about 1000 images, most of them are used in articles.) Thank you. Hello, I thought that I had AutoPatrol rights, but I just tried to upload an improved version of someone else's photo, and it said that I didn't have the right. It is easy enough to create a new file, but then (1) each one needs to link to the other, and (2) all of the links to the photo need to be updated to the new version. And, as far as I know, there is no easy/practical way to do that. Bubba73 (talk) 01:35, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
And, by the way, the latest one that I was trying to improve was a photo that was 640x480 pixels! That was the standard resolution for an IBM PC (CGA graphics) in 1987! Some early, poor-quality digital cameras used that format (my wife had one). I sharpened it and upscaled it into something noticeably better, but I could not upload that improved version, simply because it was a larger file than the 1987 standard. No. I've tried uploading improved versions of two photos, but it said that I couldn't do it because I wasn't the original uploader. I also thought that I had autopatrolled rights over all of the wikis, but I don't know how to check. I would like to have those rights, if I don't already have them. Well the colorchange was maybe a thing of personal preference, i will upload those separately in the future. But sticking to George Psalmanazar, i think that changes like File:Psalmamazar Formosa.jpg or File:Psalmanazar2.jpg are useful overwrites. NorthTension[edit]

Recently I've just been attempting to resize to selection large files (specific Inkscape command, it shrinks the transparent canvas so an image doesn't have a ton of dead transparent space, cf this file history), harmonizing color schemes of flags (i;e the Soviet flags), and reverting and reporting vandalism issues (reports are on the Wikipedia Discord). While I still do vehemently disagree with the change in rules I would like to ask for autopatrol rights to continue to do the minor tweaks and fixes I've been doing for the past few months. I do recognize that there were multiple copyright violations listed on me but those were a result of uploading on a friend's behalf (actual warnings by Yann) and then resizing some of his files after he ended up uploading them themselves (error on HapHaxion's fault that caused me to accidentally get flagged). Since I've been kind of completely wiped as a result of that rule change and other stuff going on in my life I've been taking time recently to getting an actual proper understanding of COM:L and COM:TOO with the help of Mdaniels5757 and I'd like to be able to continue contributing the way I have for the past few months. About three years ago, I set out to replace the ugly gray backgrounds on the files in this category. They clashed quite heavily with the infoboxes in which they were used, e.g. w:Uniform polyhedron compound. Later, when I learned how to do it, I started replacing similar files' white backgrounds with transparent backgrounds, such as in this category (the files with Schlegel in their name). Unfortunately, at the time, I didn't have time to continue this change, and now the files are mismashed between transparent and not. I'd like autopatrol so I can complete this change. The difference in the new standard is not significant, mainly due to the use of new fonts. On the other hand, the existing naming convention files are mixed with old and new standards including each user making their own deviations from the standard, so it cannot be considered that the naming is only used for the old standard. If I use a new name I have to create all the corresponding files before I can change the template to display it, and their number is huge (1k+). Hello, I'm Celt Browne and I'm a frequent uploader of portrait photography to the Commons, which I then add to Wikipedia biographical articles. Extremely often, I will crop these images into "headshot" style images to be used in infoboxes, as is the common practice on Wikipedia. I would like auto patrol clearance to overwrite poorly done cropped images by other users who do not make use of the Croptool's ratio feature. Thank you. In the past, before the Autopatrol requirement, I have updated and fixed File:Forms of government 2021.svg and I've noticed that the file has an error that needs to be corrected. Because of the Autopatrol requirement I cannot fix this error. A month ago I also wanted to update the election apportionment diagram of the results of the 2023 New Zealand General Election, so I needed to upload a new file and replace File:2023 New Zealand House of Representatives.svg with my own File:2023 NZ House of Representatives.svg as a workaround, since the original uploader hadn't updated it. I do genuinely have a passion for global geopolitics and I would like to be able to ensure that diagrams and maps like these are accurate and up-to-date. Thank you. Public Domain Day 2024 is coming up, and I wanted to upload 1923 sound recordings. I was hoping to get approved for mp3 update under Autopatrol. I'm a very active user on this site and I have contributed nearly 1100 pieces of media since January, 2023. I'm also working with Duke Law on their 2024 Public Domain Day page that will launch later this month. At the current time I was hoping to upload an mp3 file of this September 15, 1913 recording of My Wonderful Dream Girl from the 1913 play The Tik-Tok Man of Oz. I wanted to do a little revamp on its Wikipedia page, and include this recording there. I have long been a Commons editor and uploader. My uploads mostly relate to political maps, diagrams, and bugs on MediaWiki, and complement my activity on other projects. I have not been active on Commons recently, or on any Wikimedia project for that matter, due to real-life constraints, but now I do intend to return as the constraints have loosened. I do have a good understanding of Commons guidelines including copyright, and file renaming rules, related to which I made several edits, probably none declined so far. @Jeff G., thank you for your question. IMHO it was just a misunderstanding, but we are not in enwiki and this is not the right place to discuss it. Different login is user:Sipuha From Ruwiki (my first account). Others:AegoliusFunereus (1 edit in RU), xrtls (about 20 edits in ru), ItIsVirtual№1 (less than 10 edits in ru). These are the only ones that I remember about now (I had also 1-2 different logins and all of them were used in ru whan even my first account wasn't blocked and all of these except my current login and xrtls did not break the rule about sockpuppets). Sipuha From Ruwiki has been topic banned from two namespaces and indefinitely blocked on ruwiki, and has 59 edits here.
AegoliusFunereus is indefinitely blocked on ruwiki.
xrtls is indefinitely blocked on ruwiki.
ItIsVirtual№1 is indefinitely blocked on ruwiki.
The xrtls2 you allege to be an impersonator, but seems not to be registered.

Most of the indefblocked were created when the first account wasn't even topic-banned. I do not remember why did I create them, but I told about them to the arbcom of ruwiki and they blocked all of them.. Luckich and Ttemik are not mine accounts, see the checkuser request:Luckich=Ttemik.
