BasiGo logo[edit]
Hello. I did email and have a chat with BasiGo and there is no problem with using their logo on Wikimedia commons. I am not sure why it is listed for speedy deletion without a consult at least as there is no public mention of any copyright against their logo for non commercial reuse. Gackt - Creative Commons license YT[edit]
Hello Jeff, can you please review the licensing of several images I recently uploaded of Japanese singer-songwriter Gackt - just in case something's wrong with them, I can be sure we have and can use them. All of them were from YouTube videos under a CC license, but known author (one of which is publishing house of his books; video reporter from Thailand; person from concert audience), live interviews or performances, source is linked and timestamp provided for all of them. They are screenshots by me and in a few occassions are cropped. To take into consideration, for many years was hard to find images with CC license with a usual hairstyle, hair color etc. of the person, those used until now gave a bit wrong impression of the person so these new ones mean a lot (including having examples of him performing live). The images are:
- File:Gackt with YFC in Barcelona 2010(1).png, File:Gackt with YFC in Barcelona 2010(2).png, File:Gackt with YFC in Barcelona 2010(3).png (also File:Gackt with YFC in Barcelona 2010(3 cropped).png)
- File:Gackt at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 outside.png (also File:Gackt at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 outside (cropped).png)
- File:Gackt and Yamada at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 (1).png (also File:Gackt at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 cropped (1).png), File:Gackt and Yamada at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 (2).png, File:Gackt and Yamada at Thai-Japan Iconic Music Fest 2023 (3).png

- @Miki Filigranski: I reviewed all of them. All were successful except the last one, File:Gackt performing on Last Moon tour 2016.png. That image is a photo from "GACKTの勝ち方特装版朗読CD試聴動画vol.110" AKA "GACKT's How to Win Special Edition Recitation CD Trial Video vol.110"; we need permission from the photographer and the CD publisher via VRT. I also uploaded five videos in Category:Gackt. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 13:31, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot, that's great! As for the image in question, it is not related to the CD in question, but found its source - it is a zoomed gray derivation of this image in colour which is taken from this DVD. I doubt there's known photographer, all product images seem like screenshots of DVD's HD video. If the book publishing house can use it and publish it in their YT CC licensed video doesn't it mean others can use all the content of the video? The image is basically a lower resolution, lower-different colour etc. which per en:WP:NFCCP is "not used in a manner that is likely to replace the original market role of the original copyrighted material", it has "Minimal usage" also there's "No free equivalent" - and would be kinda useful to have an image with encyclopedic purpose of showing his unique Visualive concert style. Hence if it is not suitable for Wikimedia Commons, as NFCCP isn't Commons policy, could it be uploaded at English Wikipedia?--Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:25, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Miki Filigranski: You're welcome. There is still a videographer. You may go ahead and copy it to enwiki, and then tag it for deletion here. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 22:18, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

- @Gumruch: as you made a revert, just for clarification, is everything alright besides need of a review of confirmation?--Miki Filigranski (talk) 22:56, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Miki Filigranski: I did not yet know the source of the image, beyond YouTube. Once you have it on enwiki, I plan to start a DR if you don't. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 23:08, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- For the original source see DVD link. Ok.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 00:01, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

As a separate issue, you can delete File:Gackt at Tokyo International Fourm Hall in 2009.JPG as it wasn't taken with a photo camera or phone camera. It is a bad screenshot of some copyrighted video. Unofficial/bootleg photography in Japan and Gackt's concerts during a performance is not allowed and/or there's a strict policy.--Miki Filigranski (talk) 16:25, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Miki Filigranski: I tagged it with {{Dw no source since}} for you and ShurinCC. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 22:09, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
Update image of Codex Gigas[edit]
Hello, Jeff G., Could you please update this low resolution image of Codex Gigas with this high resolution version here on this page (image 3 of 19) of the Kungliga biblioteket? -Artanisen (talk) 09:51, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Artanisen: I uploaded File:Devil's portrait, Herman the Recluse, Codex Gigas, Benedictine monastery of Podlažice, early 13th century.jpg, but that looked bad, so I cropped & leveled it to File:Devil's portrait, Herman the Recluse, Codex Gigas, Benedictine monastery of Podlažice, early 13th century (cropped & leveled).jpg. I did not overwrite per COM:OW. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 11:25, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. You adjusted the colors so much that the background changed from brownish to white/gray and pixels are noticeable that weren't there before. Adjusting the brightness and contrast is okay, but the colors of the crop should be kept close to the original. The file name is very long. -Artanisen (talk) 22:30, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Artanisen: Feel free to upload your own version as a new file. I was concentrating on bringing out the borders and colors of the foreground figure. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 22:47, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- Could you please crop the outer border of this version File:Devil's portrait, Herman the Recluse, Codex Gigas, Benedictine monastery of Podlažice, early 13th century.jpg and overwrite it? Then it would be good imo. -Artanisen (talk) 01:09, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Artanisen: What color borders do you want cropped out? Just brown; brown & black; or brown, black, & yellow? Do you want it cropped down to the figure's horns, too? — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 01:16, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

"en"[edit]
Thanks! Sometimes even after not being on Commons for just a short while, I forget little shortcuts. <insert eyeroll> Eewilson (talk) 23:23, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Eewilson: You're welcome. I try to avoid "w:" as it appears to insult Wikipedians who prefer languages other than English. — 🇺🇦Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me🇺🇦 23:28, 9 December 2023 (UTC)
